- Chelsea suffer setback in Garnacho transfer
- Standoff between agents continues
- United won’t accept a swap deal involving Nkunku
Garnacho’s probable move to Chelsea has hit a snag due to a standoff between two agencies. According to the Manchester Evening News Pini Zahavi’s Gol International agency got in touch with the Argentine’s representatives, Carlos Cambeiro and Enrique de Lucas, who run the agency Leaders, as they wanted to facilitate a move. Zahavi, who represents Chelsea outcast Christopher Nkunku, was pushing for a swap deal where the Blues would include the Frenchman to sign Garnacho; however, United were not keen on signing the French forward.
It’s quite common in football that high-profile intermediaries often become involved in negotiations to facilitate a transfer if representatives are inexperienced. Cambeiro has represented Garnacho since his move to United in 2020 and has reportedly refused assistance from Zahavi’s organisation.
The Argentina star is one of the four players that the Red Devils are planning to offload this summer. Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony are also likely to exit Old Trafford after being deemed surpluses to Ruben Amorim’s needs.
The newly crowned Club World Cup champions will be back in action next month as they are set to play pre-season friendly matches against Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan before kicking off the new season formally on August 17 against Crystal Palace.
