- Kean turns down €20m-per-year Saudi offers
- Fiorentina prepare new contract with increased wages
- Release clause expires this week amid Man Utd interest
According to a report from Sky Sport in Italy, Kean has turned down offers from Saudi Pro League clubs Al-Hilal and Al-Qadsiah. The Italian forward and his agent have decided to prioritise staying in Europe, with Fiorentina now initiating discussions to extend his contract before the expiry of his €52 million (£44m/$56m) release clause on Tuesday.
Kean’s rejection of the Saudi Arabia offers comes amid interest from Manchester United and other European sides. Fiorentina, keen to retain the 25-year-old, are preparing a contract renewal offer that would increase his annual salary from €2.2m to €4m while removing any release clause in the new deal. Kean had previously been offered €20m (£17m/$21m) per year by Al-Hilal.
Kean scored 19 goals in 32 games in Serie A last season and has also rejected a €15m (£13m/$16m) bid from Al Qadsiah. He has remained in individual training during his off-season break to maintain his fitness.
Fiorentina will hope to wrap up Kean’s contract renewal swiftly. United continue to monitor the situation, but no formal approach has been made. Fiorentina open pre-season training next week as they face Grosseto on July 24, and Kean’s future is expected to be resolved before then.
