- Zabarnyi debuts for PSG
- Fellow defender Lucas Beraldo hails him as incredible
- Enrique happy with team’s performance
After spending around €63 million (£54m/$74m) excluding bonuses for Zabarnyi, the former بورنموث defender debuted in PSG colours against نانت في الدوري الفرنسي 1 on August 17. Teammate Beraldo and the manager, Enrique, highly appreciated his performance, claiming he is one of the players who can improve the team.
PSG made a statement signing in the form of Ukrainian centre-back Zabarnyi in this summer window. The Parisians spent a substantial sum to acquire his services from الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز outfit Bournemouth. Although he joined the camp before the كأس السوبر game against توتنهام Hotspur, he did not play, instead making his debut in their Ligue 1 opener against Nantes. Enrique’s side managed a narrow win, with فيتينها securing the solitary goal in the 67th minute. After the game, both Beraldo and Enrique spoke about the Kyiv-born defender.
Beraldo spoke highly of Zabarnyi, stating: “He’s an incredible player. I think he’ll find it very easy to play with us. He’ll help us a lot. We’re also here to help him feel at home.”
Enrique said: “I think the three players we signed are players who will bring a lot of things. Lucas and Illia played at a very good level today; they are players who can improve the team. It’s the first game of the season, we are calm and confident.”
PSG will play their next Ligue 1 fixture against Angers on Friday, August 22, and thanks to his performance and the post-match praise he received, Zabarnyi will be expected to start in that game too.
