2025-26 draw has thrown up the tantalising prospect of Alexander-Arnold heading back to Liverpool just months after his controversial transfer to Real Madrid and fans have vowed to make the night as difficult as possible for Trent should he make Xabi Alonso’s squad. Anfield will become a cauldron to welcome the Spanish giants and the return of the former Kop hero will be huge for the Liverpool faithful.

Liverpool fans are unified in their desire to give Alexander-Arnold a hard time on his return. SamueILFC said: “So glad we got Real Madrid again, Trent needs to be humbled for his PR and ego stunt.”

LFCLauriechipped in with a similar sentiment: “We need to make sure that those 90 minutes at Anfield are the most uncomfortable of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s life.”

Elsewhere, SamMcGuire90 added: “The Trent performance at Anfield will be an all-timer. It’ll make his showing against look incredible. No chance he’s able to find his head for any of the 90 minutes (if he even starts).”

osowxvyysaid: “Trent is gonna get booed like mad,” followed by a line of laughing emojis.

And WolfRMFC kept it simple with: “Trent going back to Anfield is going to be very very interesting.”

Liverpool fans were furious that a player who was born and raised locally and came through their academy could possibly run his contract down and leave the club for free. But the timing of the Club forced Real’s hand and they paid a fee of £10 million ($13.5m) to sign him earlier. When he left, he spoke of his love for the club, saying: “I’ll forever be a fan of the club, there’ll be no change in that. I’ll always be watching the games, I’ll be supporting from a distance.”

The two teams know they will face off at some stage during the Champions League league phase and UEFA is expected to announce all confirmed fixture dates and timings on Saturday.
