- Perez bitten by dog in brutal attack
- Taken to hospital
- Came through Barcelona‘s academy
Per AS, Perez, who played for Barcelona as a youngster between 2012 and 2020, making 13 first-team appearances for the club, has been hospitalised after a brutal dog attack. He was walking his own dog in the Greek city of Thessaloniki, having joined Aris on loan from Celta Vigo, when another dog attacked his own, and in attempting to intervene, he was attacked, suffering “severe cuts to his genital area”.
Perez has since returned home after doctors ruled out the prospect of surgery. He will be closely monitored, having only joined Aris three weeks ago. Initial reports had suggested that the striker was in a critical condition but that is not the case.
Perez scored twice for Barcelona’s first team, including a strike against Inter in the Champions League group stage in 2019. His other strike came in a 5-2 win over Real Betis in La Liga, and he has since gone on to play for Roma and Celta, before his loan to Aris.
Due to his injury, the ex-Barca youngster is unlikely to be involved when Aris play Azerbaijani team Araz-Naxçıvan PFK in a Conference League qualifier. Araz are 2-1 up from the first leg.
