The 18-year-old winger, long considered one of South America’s brightest prospects, was formally presented as a Chelsea player on Tuesday night following his long-anticipated arrival from بالميراس. Before sealing his switch to the الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز, Estevao carved out an impressive reputation in البرازيل. Featuring in 83 games for Palmeiras, he amassed 42 goal contributions, an extraordinary return for such a young talent.
Speaking during his unveiling, Estevao revealed the key influence behind his decision to sign for the London club.
“Eden Hazard is the one that I watched the most at Chelsea. He’s ace,” he told the official website.
Hazard, who dazzled fans during his time in blue with his creativity and flair, left a lasting impact on the next generation and Estevao is determined to emulate his success at Stamford Bridge.
Estevao also paid homage to the lineage of Brazilian players who’ve donned the Chelsea shirt with distinction.
“It’s a pleasure to be here where so many Brazilians made history,” he said, referencing title-winning figures like David Luiz and Ramires.
The teenager also revealed Thiago Silva had offered words of encouragement when the two met during a match late last year.
“After I had signed for Chelsea and in the final game of 2024, I played against Thiago Silva. He came and talked to me,” he said. “He said I was going to love the club, which has an incredible structure and is an incredible club. And now [I am here], I can see how amazing this club is.”
While the club’s history and idols played their part, Estevao stressed Chelsea’s long-term vision was the decisive factor in choosing to move to London.
“Their plans, the structure and the club. Everything,” he added. “But mainly the plans and the project the club has is what interested me and my family, and I think it was the best decision we could have made.”
With a mindset focused on winning, Estevao didn’t shy away from stating his lofty goals.
“I want to win all the titles possible: the Premier League and the دوري أبطال أوروبا as well,” he said. “And personally, to be the best in the world and keep working hard so that these dreams come true.”
Chelsea are set to face باير ليفركوزن و ميلان in two high-profile friendlies at Stamford Bridge in the coming days. With the Premier League opener against كريستال بالاس fast approaching on August 17, these games offer the perfect platform for Estevao to make his first appearance in blue.
