- برشلونة agree one-year renewal for Pena before loan
- Hansi Flick does not count on the goalkeeper
- كومو, غلطة سراي, Celta and جيرونا among clubs interested
Barcelona and Pena have agreed on a new one-year contract extension, with the 26-year-old goalkeeper set to leave the club on loan. Several clubs are keen on his signature, including Como, Celta, Galatasaray and Girona, the latest to show interest in him according to موندو ديبورتيفو but all the clubs must first create space in their squads before completing a deal.
The Alicante-born goalkeeper has struggled to secure a role under Hansi Flick, who does not count on him moving forward. To avoid blocking the club’s plans, Pena has agreed to the renewal-and-loan formula, which will also allow the Catalan giants to register Wojciech Szczesny once his departure is finalised.
The biggest obstacle to Pena’s exit lies with the interested clubs. They must either release a goalkeeper or raise funds to meet Financial Fair Play rules before taking him on loan. Talks are ongoing, with sporting director Deco negotiating directly with Pena’s representatives. While a move has not been sealed yet, there is growing optimism it will be resolved soon.
Barcelona expect Pena’s loan move to be finalised next week, possibly near deadline day. Until then, he will remain available for selection and will be on the bench this weekend when Barca face ليفانتي, having beaten مايوركا 3-0 in their opening La Liga match.
