The Santos forward, 33, pulled up in training with swelling around his thigh ahead of his side’s trip to Bahia in the Brazilian on Sunday, according to GE Globo. The report states that Santos have made the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) aware of the complaint, though they have yet to confirm the issue publicly. Neymar was already unavailable for the game against Bahia due to a suspension for yellow card accumulation.

Should Neymar be set for a spell on the sidelines, it would compound what has been a miserable few weeks for the attacker. He was reduced to tears after Santos lost a relegation clash against 6-0 last weekend, with manager Cleber Xavier later being sacked following the result.

Neymar is yet to feature for Brazil since their appointment of former , Milan and boss Carlo Ancelotti in May, with the Italian citing recurring injury issues as the reason why he decided to leave him out of his first squad as manager.

It remains to be seen whether Ancelotti will include Neymar in the squad for Brazil’s double header against Chile and Bolivia in September. The Selecao secured their place at the 2026 next summer with a 1-0 victory over Paraguay in June.
