- McTominay reportedly calls Hojlund
- Hojlund strongly linked with Serie A move
- Denmark international not in United‘s plans
McTominay, who made 34 appearances alongside Hojlund during their time together at Old Trafford, is doing all he can to convince the striker to move to the Serie A champions, according to Italian publication Corriere Dello Sport. The report claims United could be open to a €5 million loan deal with an obligation to buy for an additional €40m (£35m/$47m).
Hojlund, 22, has been strongly linked with Serie A duo Napoli and Milan after struggling for game time under Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim. The Denmark international has been left out of the matchday squad for United’s opening two fixtures of the 2025-26 Premier League season against Arsenal and Fulham.
McTominay, 28, has been a revelation since swapping United for Napoli last summer. The Scotland international scored 12 goals in 34 Serie A appearances in 2024-25 as Antonio Conte’s men pipped Inter to the league title.
McTominay and Napoli return to Serie A action when they play host to Cagliari on August 30. Meanwhile, United travel to League Two outfit Grimsby Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
