- Gibbs-White rejected offer from Spurs
- Signed new deal with Forest
- Reveals reasons behind decision
Gibbs-White has given a candid interview where he revealed intimate details behind his decision to decline an offer to join Spurs. Complications ahead of the birth of his second child plus emotional ties to the east Midlands club after three tumultuous years were deciding factors in him staying.
Gibbs-White’s decision to reject Spurs led the north London club to focus on Eberechi Eze, another deal which fell through. But Gibbs-White can now focus on the prospect of a European adventure and attempting to improve on last year’s top seven finish.
Gibbs-White told talkSPORT: “It was a really difficult period for me and my fiancée. Having my second child, but there were a few complications with all of that.I believed in being professional, showing up every day and letting everything else take care of what it needs to do. With everything that happened this summer, it was like it hit home a bit. I’ve been through a lot with this club these past three years, and to feel like I was going to miss out on what we achieved last season sort of broke me a little bit.”
Given recent events at Forest, will Gibbs-White be having regrets about not taking up the offer from Tottenham? There’s been a very public falling out between the boss, the owner and the global head of football. It’s not a fun time to be at the City Ground.
