A foundation created in Diogo Jota’s name has come under fire after shocking revelations that it allegedly has no connection to the late footballer’s family, Liverpool Football Club, or many of the organisations it publicly claimed to be working with. The “Diogo Jota Foundation” has been accepting donations since just three days after the Portuguese forward’s tragic death, with the website claiming to have raised nearly £50,000.

The Portuguese forward, along with his brother Andre Silva, was on his way back to England to join the Reds' pre-season camp when their car crashed, killing the siblings tragically. Just months before Jota's incident, Antonio was himself involved in an accident.

The football community continues to mourn the loss of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, with AS Roma's Paulo Dybala, accompanied by veteran manager Claudio Ranieri and sporting director Frederic Massara, arrived at Anfield to lay a bouquet of flowers at the growing memorial dedicated to Jota. The Portuguese international and his younger brother, André Silva, tragically lost their lives in a car accident in Spain in early July.
