- Eze and Guehi to play on Thursday
- Linked with Tottenham and Liverpool respectively
- Palace playing first ever European match
Glasner has confirmed Eze and Guehi will both be available for Palace’s Conference League play-off with Fredrikstad on Thursday night. Tottenham are said to be advancing in talks in their bid to sign Eze, while Guehi is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League champions Liverpool, though that deal isn’t as far along.
Both players were in action on Sunday as the Eagles picked up their first point of the season in a goalless draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Eze had a stunning free-kick disallowed while Guehi completed the match at centre-back before appearing to ignore manager Glasner as he headed towards the tunnel. Now, in his pre-match press conference, the 50-year-old has confirmed his two star players will both feature.
Glasner told reporters: “Many of you were surprised they started against Chelsea. You may be surprised they will start tomorrow because of all the rumours.
“But they are committed to the team, they have a contract here and want to play a crucial part in our success. They will play a crucial part for as long as they are here. If they leave, they want to leave as the guys who gave 100 per cent to Crystal Palace.
“This is what they have done since they signed many years ago and this is what we expect from them until the end.”
A suitable parting gift from Eze and Guehi – if both were to leave in the final weeks of the transfer window – would be to ensure Palace reach the league phase of the Conference League. Opponents Fredrikstad are a Norwegian side who currently sit eighth in the Eliteserien.
