- Sterling part of Chelsea‘s ‘bomb squad’
- Still has two years left on his contract
- Could be offered escape route by London rivals
Sterling is back at Chelsea after failing to impress on loan at Arsenal but is one of nine players to have been brutally axed from the club’s website in a clear sign he is surplus to requirements. West Ham United could now be set to offer Sterling a way out of Chelsea and are keeping tabs on the winger, according to talkSPORT. Manager Graham Potter has a good relationship with Sterling which could help seal a potential deal.
Sterling is believed to prefer to stay in London if he does move on, meaning West Ham may be a good option. Fulham are also reportedly interested in Sterling as well as an unnamed Champions League club. West Ham have been active in the transfer market this summer already. Mohammed Kudus has moved on to Tottenham, but Potter has brought in Kyle Walker-Peters, Callum Wilson and El Hadji Malick Diouf.
Sterling managed just one goal for Arsenal last season in 28 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners.
Sterling will be eager to secure a transfer ahead of the start of the new Premier League season. Chelsea open up their campaign against Crystal Palace on August 17.
