Jackson joined Bayern on loan at the start of the month for a fee of £14m ($19m). Plus, Vincent Kompany’s side must pay Chelsea £54m ($71m) if the 24-year-old makes 40 appearances – something Bayern’s honorary president Uli Hoeness described as “impossible”.
According to BILD, via Sport Witness, Bayern want to lower that £54m fee and will use Carney Chukwuemeka’s move to Borussia Dortmund as an example to follow. The German side had agreed to a €35m (£30m) purchase option for the Blues midfielder but got that down to €20m (£17m) instead. Bayern may hope for something similar with Jackson.
Jackson, who scored 30 goals in 81 games for Chelsea, nearly saw his move from Stamford Bridge to Bayern collapse due to Liam Delap’s injury. That left Enzo Maresca with one fit striker in Joao Pedro after sending Marc Guiu out on loan to Sunderland. But with the youngster being recalled from the Black Cats, Jackson got his wish in the end.
The former Villarreal striker, who has been used by Bayern boss Kompany to get some inside information on Chelsea, could face the Blues on Wednesday night when the German and English giants collide in the Champions League.
