Deadline day brought plenty of drama in the Premier League, particularly at Crystal Palace. Marc Guehi saw a move to Liverpool fall though, while the Eagles then pulled out of an agreement to sign Solomon from Spurs. Palace had signed a deal sheet, giving them extra time to complete the transfer, but then decided against bringing in the winger. The move left Spurs “fuming” and eager for the Premier League to make deal sheets legally-binding documents in a bid to prevent such a scenario arising again, according to the Daily Mail.
Solomon did end up moving on from Spurs and has joined Villarreal on a season-long loan. The transfer window in Spain closed four hours later, allowing the Yellow Submarine time to swoop in and seal an agreement after Palace had ended their interest.
Solomon enjoyed a swift return to Tottenham on Tuesday as he was part of the Villarreal squad for a Champions League clash with Tottenham. Yet the new signing didn’t make it off the bench as Spurs won 1-0 thanks to an early own goal from Luiz Junior.
Tottenham enjoyed a fairly busy transfer window with players including Randal Kolo Muani, Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons and Joao Palhinha joining Thomas Frank’s side. Spurs currently side third in the table after four games played and return to action on Saturday against Brighton.
