- Spurs humiliated as Arsenal steal Eze
- Tottenham scramble for last-minute signings
- Akliouche has emerged as the latest target
Pressure was already building after James Maddison’s injury left Tottenham desperate for creative reinforcements. Missing out on Eze has only made matters worse, exposing Spurs’ fragile transfer strategy and leaving fans fearing another season of mediocrity in the English top flight. Earlier, the club was led to believe they could prise Morgan Gibbs-White away from Nottingham Forest, only to watch the player commit to staying put. Two major failures in the space of mere weeks have ratcheted up the heat on the Spurs board.
With Eze gone, Spurs have shifted their focus to AS Monaco‘s rising star Akliouche, with fresh talks opening as the club scrambles to rebuild its shattered plans, as revealed by The Independent. But Akliouche is not the only name on their desperate shopping list, with Southampton‘s Tyler Dibling being viewed as a potential bargain addition. They are also closely monitoring the situation at RB Leipzig, where Xavi Simons remains unsettled as his transfer to Chelsea has failed to progress.
Spurs also briefly considered reigniting their pursuit of Conor Gallagher, but the midfielder’s current deal at Atletico Madrid puts him financially out of reach. The most realistic name may be Nico Paz of Como, with movement on a deal expected imminently. He is seen as both affordable and attainable, giving Tottenham their best shot at a quick fix. They have also maintained a long-standing interest in Morgan Rogers at Aston Villa, though that move would require a significant fee, potentially in excess of £80 million ($107.5m).
Manchester City’s Savinho is also on the shortlist. Reports in Brazil suggest Spurs have lodged an improved bid for the ace, and the two clubs face each other this weekend.
