Madrid have been in talks with Vinicius Junior‘s representatives over a new contract since the end of 2024, but the two parties have yet to make any progress in their discussions. The Brazil international reportedly met officials of the Saudi Pro League in February to listen to their offers, but by March, it was reported that he was inching closer to signing a fresh Los Blancos contract.
According to Diario AS, Real Madrid are yet to make progress in talks amid reports that Vinicius Junior wants the same wages which Mbappe currently earns at the club. The Selecao star is also concerned about his role in the team, as he feels that it could change under Xabi Alonso to accommodate the French star, although the Spanish head coach has maintained that the Brazilian is important to his squad.
It now remains to be seen if the 25-year-old agrees on Madrid’s terms in the coming months, as the Spanish giants would not want the player to enter the final 12 months of his deal without a new contract being agreed. Vinicius Jr is also linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, along with the Saudi Pro League teams.
Alonso’s team will aim to extend their winning streak to five matches in La Liga as they host Espanyol on Saturday.
