According to Diario AS Madrid are keeping a close eye on Saliba’s situation at Arsenal as they remain interested in signing the France international. Los Blancos are likely to see David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger leave the club next summer and as a result, they are in the market to sign a partner for Dean Huijsen next season.
Saliba’s current Arsenal contract runs until 2027 and is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal. However, Indykalia reports that the defender’s representatives have requested a meeting with the Premier League to discuss the terms of a new deal. The report also claims that the Frenchman will demand more wages to commit his future to the Gunners.
Madrid have also included Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate in their shortlist of centre-backs, but the Reds star is being considered as a cheaper alternative to his compatriot. The Spanish giants have also informed Saliba that if he signs a new contract at Arsenal, their offer will be off the table.
Saliba is still nursing an ankle injury that he suffered during Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Liverpool last month and may not feature in their upcoming Premier League fixture against Manchester City on Sunday.
