- Man City sign keeper Trafford
- Was set to compete with Ederson
- Donnarumma interest could scupper that
According to The Telegraph summer signing Trafford is expected to start the season as City’s first-choice goalkeeper, despite Ederson’s presence. However, if Pep Guardiola’s team signed wantaway PSG stopper Donnarumma, that assertion could be in doubt.
Donnarumma’s spell at PSG looks set to end after saying he had beenjettisoned from the first-team squad, with his agent talking up a Premier League switch. The report adds that PSG are aware that City have spoken to Donnarumma’s agent but the clubs have not discussed a transfer or his price tag.
A Donnarumma transfer, however, may be dependent on whether or not Ederson leaves City. There is said to be strong interest from Galatasaray but for now, the Brazilian remains at the Etihad. Moreover, with the Italian international seemingly being forced out at the French giants, he is likely to be available for under the reported £43 million ($58m) valuation.
Just as it looked like there would be a battle royale between Trafford and Ederson for the starting spot at City, this Donnarumma speculation may have thrown a spanner in the works. For the time being, City start their Premier League season away to Wolves on Saturday.
