- Ex-Spurs star released by Serie A outfit
- Returned to English football speculated on
- Ambitious Blues will not be tabling an offer
Former Tottenham star Dele continues to endure a tough time as he struggles to get his faltering career back on track. A change of scenery when heading to Italy late in 2024 was intended to aid that cause.
Dele linked up with Serie A side Como, with former Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas prepared to take a calculated gamble on the ex-England international – who had seen his contract run out at Everton.
The 29-year-old took in just one appearance for Como – which lasted less than 10 minutes after he saw redin a clash with AC Milan. With questions being asked of his form and fitness, Dele has been released as a free agent once more.
A return to English football is being speculated on, but Football Insider claims that Birmingham will not be taking a punt. They are said to have “looked into” an agreement but have “decided the deal is not right for them after checking the conditions”.
No offer will be tabled to Dele from St Andrew’s. That is keeping his future up in the air, with a humbling fall from grace being suffered since severing ties with Spurs in 2022. It is claimed that other sides in the Championship may be “willing to take a chance on him”.
