Wrexham were previously reported as having opened negotiations over the signing of James earlier this week.
Wrexham and superstar owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will hope that the pull of starring for a historic Welsh club on its way to the top will be enough to convince 20-cap international James of the move, while Rennes will sell to the highest bidder. Fellow Wales stars Nathan Broadhead, Kieffer Moore and Danny Ward have already made the move this summer and the 2004-born ace may see Wrexham as an exciting project to be a part of.
James came through Birmingham’s academy and spent nine years at the club, making 105 first-team appearances before departing on relegation to الدوري الأول last summer. It would be ironic if the midfielder were to sign for Blues’ fellow newly-promoted high spenders in Wrexham just a year later.
