- Isak to skip PFA awards night
- Nominated for the main award
- Isak wants Liverpool move
According to BBC Sport Isak is yet to confirm his presence at the PFA awards gala, which will be hosted at the Manchester Opera House on Tuesday night. The Swedish striker has been nominated for the main award for the night; however, he has yet to confirm whether he will attend the function. Typically, the nominees are required to confirm their participation 24 hours before the awards night and it remains to be seen if Isak changes his mind at the last moment.
Isak is currently in a stand-off with Newcastle over his transfer to Liverpool as the Magpies are yet to sanction his sale, although the forward is determined to move to Anfield this summer. The 25-year-old has been banished from the first team and is training alone, away from the main squad.
Isak had a terrific outing with the Magpies in the 2024-25 campaign as he helped them win the Carabao Cup and then guided them to a top five finish, which guaranteed them a Champions League slot. He ended becoming the second highest scorer in the Premier League behind Mohamed Salah with 23 goals to his name in 34 appearances.
After the draw against Aston Villa last Saturday, manager Howe had urged the club to resolve the Isak issue as early as possible. It remains to be seen if the striker will finally realise his dream to play for the Reds before the summer transfer window closes.
