With Arsenal hijacking Tottenham‘s move for Palace star Eze, hope blossomed that the England international could make his Gunners debut against Leeds on Saturday. However, The Standard stated that if Arsenal couldn’t sign the 27-year-old by midday on Friday, he would not feature at home to Leeds. That time has now passed.
The report adds that Eze underwent a medical on Friday morning, and while he won’t make the Leeds fixture, he could be unveiled as a new Arsenal player in the next 48 hours. This would be another statement signing for Mikel Arteta’s men, in what would be a £67.5 million ($90.5m) transfer.
Since swapping Queens Park Rangers for Palace in the 2020-21 season, Eze has scored 40 goals and added 28 assists in 169 appearances. In that time, he has predominantly played as an attacking midfielder but has also been utilised on the left wing and in central midfield.
After Arsenal host Leeds at the Emirates on Saturday evening, Arteta’s team travel to defending Premier League champions Liverpool on August 31. That could be the game where Eze makes his Gunners debut.
