- Bruno’s long-term successor?
According to Fichajes, United are keeping tabs on Barcelona teenager Pedro (Dro) Fernandez. The 17-year-old is said to be the next ‘shining light’ in Barca’s academy and is inching closer to making his first-team debut for the Blaugrana.
The report adds that Liverpool are another team tracking the attacking midfielder, along with Manchester City and Chelsea. Articles in England suggest he could be a long-term successor to United captain Bruno Fernandes but that is a big claim to make for one so young.
According to Fichajes, Fernandez stands out for his ‘refined technique, vision, and ability to link up with his team-mates’. The youngster scored Barcelona’s final goal in their 3-1 pre-season win over Vissel Kobe and has made the bench in all three of Barca’s La Liga games this season.
Transfer speculation aside, Fernandez – whose contract runs until 2027 at the Catalan outfit – will hope to make his Barcelona debut soon, perhaps starting with their home game against Valencia on Sunday.
