- Chelsea consider selling academy talent
- Antwi played in two Conference League games
- Players exchanged clubs frequently
According to L’Equipe Antwi visited Strasbourg‘s training ground last week, with talks between the French side and Chelsea expected to continue. The Blues have made a habit out of selling academy talent for profit in the last few years and the 18-year-old represents another opportunity for Todd Boehly and co to make a quick buck.
A right-back by trade, Antwi would find it tricky to challenge for a first-team place under Enzo Maresca over the current season. Reece James and Malo Gusto are both established options at Stamford Bridge, while Josh Acheampong, Axel Disasi, Trevoh Chalobah and Wesley Fofana are all capable of playing in that position.
Andrey Santos, Ângelo, Caleb Wiley and Diego Moreira have all spent time on loan at Strasbourg from Chelsea in recent years, while Djordje Petrovic also joined the Stade de la Meinau side, developing sufficiently before being sold to Bournemouth in July.
It’s been another busy summer in west London already and more players could leave in the coming weeks. Forwards Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku have both been linked with exits, while defender Fofana may hope to force a departure after removing all mention of Chelsea from his Instagram account.
