- Leipzig remain keen on signing Nkunku
- Nkunku wants a permanent transfer away from Chelsea
- Has attracted interest from Bayern and clubs from Italy and England
According to The Athletic Leipzig are stepping up their efforts to bring back Nkunku from the Blues after the Frenchman fell out of favour at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have been in talks with the Bundesliga club on a separate transfer of Xavi Simons, as the Dutchman only wants a move to the West London club.
The report adds that Leipzig are not close to finalising a deal for Nkunku, whom Chelsea values at €50million (£43.2m/$58.2m). Both the Premier League side and the French attacker want a permanent transfer and put an end to his misery at Stamford Bridge.
If Chelsea cannot sell Nkunku this summer, that couldjeopardise their move for Manchester United outcast Alejandro Garnacho. United are said to want at least £50m for the 21-year-old, who only wants to join the Blues before the transfer window shuts on September 1.
Enzo Maresca’s side will aim to register their first win of the new season as they take on West Ham in the Premier League on Friday.
