Origi’s career hit the rocks after leaving in 2022 and found himself miles off AC Milan’s first-team. The Belgian forward has been in a stand-off with the club after being told to play for youth side Milan Futuro and now the two parties have agreed to sever links and allow him to leave, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

It’s quite the fall from grace for Origi, who left Liverpool with six trophies to his name, including a title and a crown. His Kop End-hero status was confirmed courtesy of a dramatic late winner against and two goals in the famous semi-final victory over at Anfield. He also got on the scoresheet against in the 2019 final.

Origi’s package will see the international accept just 50 per cent of his remaining contract in severance wages. The 30-year-old was in for the 2023-24 season, scoring once in 22 appearances for , and he only managed two strikes during his sole first-team season with Milan in 2022-23.

It’s symptomatic of how much Origi wants to leave that he exits AC Milan without a club waiting to snap him up. But, as a free agent, he will not be bound by rules surrounding transfer windows.
