- French keeper in last 12 months of Milan deal
- Maignan in no hurry to decide next step
- No interest in move to Turkey this summer
According to DAZN transfer pundit Orazio Accomado, the Turkish giants made contact with the player’s entourage. The response from the French keeper’s camp was negative, ruling out any chances of a move to Galatasaray this summer.
Maignan was reportedly close to a deal with the Stamford Bridge club ahead of the Club World Cup, although Milan have claimed no deal was close as the offer received for the player have been “uninteresting, according to the club’s CEO Giorgio Furliani. Regardless of how meaningful those talks were, the fallout has compelled 30-year-old to choose his next move carefully, increasing the chances he remains at Milan for the remainder of his contract. His current deal runs out in June 2026.
Maignan joined Milan from Lillle in 2021, replacing Gianluigi Donnarumma in the Rossoneri net. He has since established himself as one of Europe’s most reliable shot stoppers, making 163 appearances for Milan and winning Serie A.
Whether Maignan decides to pursue a move away this summer, or he remains in Milan for another year, it seems the Frenchman’s long-term future lies outside of northern Italy. Clubs motivated to replace their incumbent keeper may well swoop in again, testing Maignan and Milan’s resolve.
