- Luiz joins Forest on loan
- Could sign permanently next summer
- Ends nightmare Juventus spell
Just over a year on from leaving Aston Villa for Juventus in a €50 million (£42m/$54m) deal, the midfielder is back in the Premier League, this time with Forest. The club say in addition to the season-long loan, there is a ‘conditional obligation’ to buy the Brazil international next summer.
He told the club’s website: “I am really happy to be here, it’s a big club and I decided to come here because I can see the ambition the club has. I am so excited to start with the team and give my best for the shirt and the fans.”
Luiz joined one of Europe’s biggest clubs last year, along with his then-girlfriend Alisha Lehmann, but a lot has changed since then. The couple is no longer together, Luiz is back in England, and the Swiss international has just joined Como. The 27-year-old – who started just six games for Juve last season in all competitions – is undoubtedly a talented player, and Forest fans will hope he can bring his A-game this season as he bids to reignite his career.
The former Vasco da Gama man could make his Forest debut away at Crystal Palace on Sunday in the Premier League. He can also look forward to playing in the Europa League this season with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
