- Forward wants to continue at San Siro
- Mexican has interest from Premier League
A swap deal was planned that would see the Mexico international join the capital club in exchange for Artem Dovbyk. However, the forward has conveyed his desire to continue at San Siro. According to Calciomercato, the 24-year-old’s resistance as he is convinced he will be able to fight for a spot in the lineup despite the arrival of Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea.
Gimenez joined Milan from Feyenoord in the winter transfer window. He featured 14 times in the Serie A and secured five goals and two assists. While there were reports of a possible swap, his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, has called it fake news. It has also been reported that the Mexican has interest from Brentford, who recently sold Yoane Wissa to Newcastle. Although Milan are open to listening to offers, the player’s stance is unchanged.
Pimenta informed Calciomercato: “He’s not going anywhere. All the rumours that have surfaced, from the first to the last, are untrue. They’re fake news.”
Gimenez, who has five goals in 42 international appearances for Mexico, will be continuing at Milan. The Rossoneri will be taking on Bologna on September 14, after the international break concludes.
