- Napoli show interest in Mainoo
- Mainoo wants Champions League football
- Ready to leave United due to lack of game time
Napoli, who are closing in on signing Rasmus Hojlund on loan, with an obligation to buy, from United, are expected to submit a bid for midfield outcast Mainoo in the next couple of days, according to the Daily Mail. The reigning champions will offer Mainoo Champions League football, which could potentially become a decisive factor in their pursuit of the youngster.
Mainoo, however, will face stiff competition in Antonio Conte’s midfield, which already consists of big names like Scott McTominay and new signing Kevin De Bruyne. But the Daily Mail report claims that the England international is ready to compete for his place in the starting lineup.
The United youth product lost his place on Amorim’s side since returning from an injury last December. In the 2025-26 campaign, the England international has yet to play a single minute in their first two matches against Arsenal and Fulham. Other than Napoli, Real Madrid are also reportedly interested in a loan move for the midfielder.
Amori’s side are all set to face Grimsby Town in a second round Carabao Cup clash this Wednesday, before hosting Burnley in the Premier League on August 30.
