- Kilmarnock sign 16-year-old Skye Stout
- Subjected to abuse over facial acne
- Scores superb free-kick on her debut
Skye Stout signed for Kilmarnock FC Women on Thursday, but the Scottish club subsequently removed their social media posts about her unveiling after people mocked her skin condition. The teenager responded in the best way possible, however, by scoring a superb free-kick from the edge of the box against St Johnstone on Sunday in the Women’s Premier League 2.
Before Kilmarnock won their weekend game 6-2, the midfielder received a torrent of abuse over her facial acne. But once a rallying cry went round on social media to support her, well-wishers flooded in to try and drown out the naysayers. Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was among those to wish her “good luck” online, as did ex-England cricketer Kevin Pietersen, and Chelsea Women FC.
Stout, who also bagged an assist in her side’s victory, could feature again for Kilmarnock when they travel to Boroughmuir Thistle next Sunday. After one game, they are currently top of the 10-team league on goal difference.
