- Arsenal set to sign Eze
- Spurs were in talks to sign Palace star
- Eze gave his green light to the Gunners
According to The Athletic Arsenal have hijacked arch-rivals Tottenham‘s Eze transfer bid and are now close to signing the England international, with the attacking midfielder keen to move to the Emirates.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was in talks with his Palace counterpart Steve Paris and had an agreement with the Eagles and the player but are now ready to focus on alternatives if Eze opts for a move to their rivals. Arsenal were interested in Eze since the start of the summer transfer window, but they stepped up their efforts once Kai Havertz picked up a knee injury and could be sidelined for months.
Eze is a boyhood Arsenal fan and started his youth career at the Gunners’ academy. Crystal Palace understand that the 27-year-old wants to take the next step in his career and are ready to part ways with the attacking midfielder.
A transfer for Eze is unlikely to be finalised before Thursday, as Oliver Glasner wants the player to be a part of their team for the important Europa Conference League play-off first leg clash against Fredrikstad.
