- West Ham eyeing move for Jurrien Timber’s brother
- Show interest in Feyenoord‘s Quinten
- Potter wants to sign two midfielders
According to The Guardian West Ham were earlier looking to sign Portuguese midfielder Mateus Fernandes from Southampton but their pursuit of the 21-year-old has hit a roadblock as the Saints are unwilling to let the youngster leave, as they aim to return to the top division this season. The only way the Hammers can convince Southampton is by matching their asking price of £50 million ($67m).
The report adds that Potter wants to add at least two midfielders to his existing squad, one who can stay deep and another who can control the game at the centre of the park. West Ham had also approached Barcelona for Marc Casado, but that transfer looks unlikely, and they are instead eyeing Jurrien’s brother Quinten.
Quinten Timber has won five caps for the Netherlands and has played for Feyenoord since 2022. His brother has been at Arsenal since 2023 and has battled back from an ACL injury to become a first-team regular under Mikel Arteta.
West Ham will be back in action in the Premier League this Friday as they host Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea.
